The Department of Infrastructure’s 20mph Speed Limit Consultation for the Central area on residential roads, was considered at the Board Meeting on 11 September 2025. Following a wide ranging discussion, it was unanimously resolved to submit the following responses in relation to the various proposed speed limits in Braddan:

Union Mills – Object to the imposition of 20mph on the Peel Road and suggest 30mph with a pedestrian crossing installed in place of the current central pedestrian refuge.

Ballaoates RoadRequest an extension of the new 20mph section from Strang Crossroads to the entrance of Union Mills Football Club. Suggested 40mph from Union Mills Football Club to Sir George’s bridge.

Cooil RoadObject to the imposition of 40mph and suggested 30mph from Spring Valley Roundabout to Cooil Chapel.

Braddan RoadObject to imposition of 40mph and suggested 30mph in line with suggested changes on Vicarage Road.

Old Castletown Road, Keristal, Glen Road and Marine Driveobject to imposition of 20mph in these areas and suggest either they’re left as they are or set at a max of 40mph

Spring Valley Industrial Estate & IOM Business Parkobject to imposition of 20mph in these areas, as its unnecessary due to parked vehicles and the design of the estates.

Ballafletcher Roadobject to the imposition of 40mph suggest 30mph in line with Vicarage Road from the junction of Braddan Road to the junction with Tromode Road.
