If you’d like to apply for Public Social Housing, please complete the Housing Waiting List (Eastern Region) Application Form and make an appointment to see the Housing Officer.

For information regarding the Eastern Housing Waiting List please contact the Housing team directly.

Once you are registered on the housing list, you will be contacted by the Housing team by phone and letter if a suitable property becomes available.

If you or someone you know is homeless or at risk of eviction, the following services may be able to help:

 

Housing Matters – A charity who provide advice, guidance and support to families and individuals in housing crisis.

 

Adult Services Access Team – A Department of Health and Social Care team who provide advice and guidance for those experiencing homelessness.

The Tenant Handbook contains everything a tenant, or prospective tenant, needs to know about their rights and responsibilities.

We have a selection of ground floor apartments and apartments accessed via lift which feature level access showers, that may be suitable for the elderly and/or disabled tenants who are able to live more independently.

If you have a genuine emergency situation with your property that cannot wait until the next working day, then please call our Emergency (Out of Hours) telephone number on 483003.

Payment of Rent

There are a number of ways for you to pay your rent:

 

By Direct Debit, Standing Order, or Bank Transfer – options to pay either weekly or monthly are available, please contact us for more information.

 

By Card – card payments can be processed by telephone or in person at the Commissioners’ Office. Please call 852808 to make a payment.

 

By Cash – cash payments can be made in person at the Commissioners’ Office.

 

Directly from Benefits – People in receipt of certain benefits may be able to have their rent paid directly to the Commissioners. Please contact the Department of Health and Social Care on 01624 685094 for further advice.

Under the terms of your tenancy agreement, your rent is due weekly in advance every Monday.

If you choose to pay by monthly Direct Debit, we will send you a schedule of payments setting out the dates your payments will be debited from your bank account.

Recurring payments are available by Direct Debit or Standing Order on a weekly or monthly basis, please contact us for more information.

If you are unable to pay your rent, please contact us as soon as possible to discuss how we can assist. We can provide advice and arrange payment plans to help with getting you back on track.

If you do not get in touch with us, or fail to respond to phone calls or letters from the housing team, we will take further steps to recover the arrears. For full details, please see the Tenant Handbook.
