Commissioner Mission Statement

This mission statement reflects the Commissioner’s personal priorities, values, and approach to serving the Braddan community. It provides an overview of the principles that guide their decision-making and their aspirations for the parish during their term of office.
“I am honoured to be given the opportunity to represent the people of Braddan as Commissioner. In my opinion, we are all only custodians of our Village, our Island or indeed our Planet and we have an obligation to do our best physically and financially to ensure we leave it in better condition than we found it for the benefit of future generations. My thanks go to the previous board who worked diligently at this and have a proud legacy in the new Mullen Dowey Apartments and the creation of a modern community hub, the Roundhouse.
As a fresh set of eyes there is little point simply observing what the previous role holders have done without offering something fresh and new to enhance our community. This may well involve an element of constructive feedback, debate and challenging conversations all of which I am comfortable doing where I feel it is necessary.
I believe we have a duty of care to look after the most vulnerable in our society, this can encompass many things from affordable good quality social housing to safe roads and pavements to travel on. I want to ensure we have accessible buildings and services along with providing opportunities for social connection.
My approach and the key objectives for my term in office are very much going to be focused on ensuring good value for our rate payers, with long term sustainability and personal safety being of high importance. I want to use the knowledge and qualifications that I have achieved throughout my career to bring high levels of professionalism and integrity to the role whilst also generating a bit of fun and enjoyment for the people I will be interacting with.”
